Perfect for podcasting – the Framery One acoustic booth
We talk with ECF’s own, Johnny Raf, an avid Melbourne supporter, about his footy podcast and the benefits of using a Framery acoustic booth
John has made great use of the Framery One in the ECF/HFA office. We were keen to get an insight into his first-hand experience.
First off – what is your podcast called and how did you get started?
“Our podcast is called Footy Time and the idea was actually my co-host Dan’s during the first lockdown in 2020. With nothing for any of us to do in that period, he thought it would be a good idea to do a show reviewing famous AFL Grand Finals of yesteryear and taking a trip down memory lane. I joined in 2021 on a weekly basis to recap the round of footy just played and to discuss the things that piqued our interest.”
What is it about the Framery acoustic booth that you love for recording your segments?
“The biggest challenge when recording a podcast is trying to eliminate background noise. This can be air-conditioners, outside traffic or that pesky neighbour who loves using a lawnmower right when you’re trying to do a recording. Even the reverberation of voices off the walls in a room can create an echo that doesn’t sound great to a listener.
“There are certainly things you can do in post-production to minimise these imperfections, but the most effective way to eliminate background noise is at the source; that is, get a clean recording in the quietest environment possible.
“Some extreme methods people try without the use of a studio are usually recording in a closet or with blankets over their heads! The Framery allows you to record to a high quality in comfort and with ease.
“A feature I love about the new Framery One is the ability to adjust the table height – it’s so much easier to get the microphone up to the desired height; I don’t need to stack boxes or reams of copy paper to get the correct height.”
